Rescue - OpossumBaby Opossums
Every year we receive many opossum babies due to the fact that their mother has been hit crossing the road. Keep the babies warm and email info@austinareawildliferehab.org immediately. Please do not attempt to feed these babies. These babies do not have a “suckle” response and have to be intubated to be fed. If the baby is 7-8 inches long, not counting the tail, it is old enough to be on its own. If it is uninjured, leave it alone. Adult Opossums
If you find an injured adult opossum, carefully contain the animal and email info@austinareawildliferehab.org for advice. Remember, these animals can bite through gloves so use caution.
